Costs of Braces

smiling_familyThe cost of braces depends on an array of factors. Prices will vary based on your location and which orthodontist you choose. The extent of adjustment required as well as the type of braces you choose may also have an impact on cost. In general, braces may cost between $4,000 and $7,000.

Cost of Traditional Braces:  The most affordable type of braces consist of traditional metal brackets affixed to the teeth and connected with wire. Though these braces tend to cost the least, many patients are now choosing more attractive ceramic braces, clear braces, or Invisalign® "invisible" braces regardless of prices.

Cost of Clear Braces: Clear braces are an increasingly popular choice for both adults and teenagers who would like to straighten their teeth effectively without the distracting appearance of metal braces. Instead of metal brackets, clear braces consist of translucent brackets made of monocrystalline sapphire.

Average Cost of Invisalign®:  The invisalign® system serves to gently move teeth into alignment using a succession of clear aligners that are virtually undetectable when worn. Invisalign® works best on mild to moderate tooth crowding, though skilled orthodontists have recently begun treating more severe occlusion problems. If your teeth need only moderate refinement, the average cost of invisalign® may be similar to traditional braces. For more complex cases, the cost may range from 20 to 50 percent more than metal brackets.

Many people choose to pay for their braces through cosmetic dentistry financing plans such as Care Credit® or Capital One® Healthcare Finance™. Both programs offer a multitude of financing options, including interest-free loans or low fixed interest rates for qualified applicants. Payment schedules can be adjusted based on your needs.
